Black-Band Disease on a Brain Coral. On the left is dead coral skeleton and on the right is healthy tissue. The black black filamentous tissue is the advancing the disease. Black-band disease can advance 2mm - 2 cm per day and can kill a coral in a few weeks to a couple of months.
