The Conchshell Bay Fishmarket in central Belize City. Fishermen drive their boats up the channel from the Belize River to the pavilion over the channel and sell their fish directly from their boats to the local market. An entire economy surrounds this daily event including not only the fishermen, but also people who come to clean fish or sell vegetables or beer and the local stores that benefit from the increased traffic. From an assignment for Rare and Orvis with support from Environmental Defense Fund, the Belize Fisheries Department, and Wildlife Conservation Society to document the Fish Forever program in Belize.
